Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity Symposium

The Office of the Dean is pleased to host a research symposium during the week of April 16, 2018 to promote, enhance and celebrate the diversity of research, scholarship and creative endeavors at Grinnell College. The symposium will provide students the opportunity to share what they have learned through their research and creative projects with the wider community.

  • 2018 Grinnell College Scholarly and Creative Research Symposium

    April 16, 2018 – April 20, 2018

    The Office of the Dean is pleased to host a research symposium during the week of April 16, 2018 to promote, enhance and celebrate the diversity of research, scholarship and creative endeavors at Grinnell College. The symposium will provide students the opportunity to share what they have learned through their research and creative projects with the wider community.

Diversity and Inclusion in the Science Classroom

This is a conference to share best practices for encouraging diversity and inclusion in science classrooms. We will gather small teams of science faculty, diversity professionals, and teaching-and-learning professionals to learn more about pscyhological factors that limit progress (such as implicit bias and stereotype threat); to share successful policies, practices and curricula; and to develop plans for further dissemination and implementations at their home campuses.

  • 2015 Summer Conference: Best Practices

    June 30, 2015 – June 30, 2015

    This is a conference to share best practices for encouraging diversity and inclusion in science classrooms. We will gather small teams of science faculty, diversity professionals, and teaching-and-learning professionals to learn more about psychological factors that limit progress (such as implicit bias and stereotype threat); to share successful policies, practices and curricula; and to develop plans for further dissemination and implementations at their home campuses.

Humanities Student Symposium

The Humanities Student Symposium is an annual event at which Grinnell College students have the opportunity to present a selection of their papers or creative work. Student submissions can be in the form of essays that show excellent research in the humanities, broadly defined by principles of humanistic inquiry and research, creative writing, art projects, or other forms of creative expression.

    This is an annual symposium at which Grinnell College students across all divisions of study have the opportunity to present a selection of their papers or creative work.

    April 7, 2014 – April 9, 2014

    This is an annual symposium at which Grinnell College students have the opportunity to present a selection of their papers or creative work.

  • 2012-13 Humanities Student Symposium

    April 29, 2013 – April 30, 2013

    Following the success of the conference last year, the Center for the Humanities has decided to make this an annual event at which Grinnell College students have the opportunity to present a selection of their papers or creative work.

Peace and Conflict Studies Conference

A biennial student conference sponsored by the Grinnell College Peace and Conflict Studies Program, held in even-numbered years in March.

  • Grinnell Peace Studies Student Conference 2014

    February 28, 2014 – March 1, 2014

    This is the third biennial undergraduate student conference sponsored by the Grinnell College Peace & Conflict Studies Program (formerly the Peace Studies Program).

    To set up an account and submit your abstract, start here.

    Students who present at the conference will have the opportunity to have their paper published in a digital academic journal comprised of the conference's proceedings, which will be accessible in the public domain via Digital Grinnell. Papers will go through a peer review and faculty review process. The proceedings will be published in the fall semester of 2014.
